Title VIII Research Fellowships
Title VIII provides grants for independent, policy-relevant research abroad in the humanities and social sciences as well as language training.
For over thirty years, American Councils has administered grants in support of research in a range of disciplines and geographies. Through our strong presence overseas and a network of scholars and institutional partners, we connect grantees with the resources they need to achieve their research goals.
Funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Program for Research and Training on Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (Title VIII), the American Councils Research Scholar Program provides full support for graduate students, faculty, and independent scholars seeking to conduct in-country, independent research for three consecutive months to nine consecutive months in Central Asia, Moldova, Russia, the South Caucasus, Southeast Europe, and Ukraine.
